Give rare gift

JESSICA WILLET, Australian Red Cross Blood Service.Comment News

Due to our expanding multicultural population, we have seen an increase in the need for rare blood that is found only in donors with diverse ethnic backgrounds.

With more than 26 per cent of Australia’s population born overseas and 65 per cent of residents with non-Australian or indigenous origins, we need to ensure we have enough of the right blood type for everyone in need.

The need for blood does not discriminate, and we need blood of all types and ethnicities. No matter where you were born, where you are from or where you live, your donation could save a life.
