THANK you for Champion Lakes: we are truly blessed to have such a fantastic venue in our area.
To have free access to a recreational playground and an aquatic facility in a semi-natural environment is a privilege.
I have spent many happy hours there either training or drifting around enjoying the bird life, walking the dogs or searching for “treasure” with the grandchildren on the islands.
It can be frustrating to find the venue closed for swimming, especially when training for an event, but the pool is close by and the running and cycling are still an option.
I wonder, though, if we aren’t too protected and if, depending on the readings, adults could be allowed access to the water, taking full responsibility for their own wellbeing?
I have swum in dams and creeks without negative side effects.
Overall, the closures are not excessive.
Various bodies do an excellent job of maintaining the area and are to be commended for their efforts.
Champion Lakes is an asset to the community and I, for one, am thrilled to have it on my doorstep.
