Happy trails

I LOVE travelling in my airconditioned stretch limo, either by myself or with family members.

I leave from Kelmscott train station to go to the city of Perth, sometimes visiting Northbridge, Leederville or even Fremantle, to catch a movie and have a cheap meal from another culture, ranging from Italian to Asian.

Yes, I’m talking about the Armadale train line.

As a senior citizen, I have often heard bad comments about travelling by train. Why? I don’t know.

People who criticise the Armadale train line seem to have never travelled on it.

I love seeing all the different folk on this line; I call it the ‘United Nations’ line because I see nice people from all around the world on it.

There are people who are happily engrossed playing with their iPhones, Kindles, computers or listening to music by ear phones.

No, I am not an oldie who thinks this is a bad thing. It gives people a chance to have some quiet time on their own without having to listen to the sometimes-boring chatter of some stranger sitting next to them.

I love reading on the train when I am travelling, and the journey just whizzes by.

With train travel, you have no parking hassles and it is a relaxing, smooth ride.

Sometimes you see funny ‘street theatre’ where an occasional fare evader panics when train guards arrive to check tickets.

Last Sunday my hubby and I watched an exchange happening on the platform in front of us in the distance as a young couple had some sort of disagreement going.

We were too far away to hear it but the body language was a classic explanation of a break-up between two lovers.

We have travelled at all hours, including late at night on the Armadale train line. The security guards make us feel safe and it is always entertaining to see many different people making their way home after a good night out.

Therefore, if you want to travel in a nice long stretch limo, give the Armadale train line a go.

We have been loving it for many years.
