MINISTER’S ROLE

Janice TeoComment News

WRITER Mark Appelt's letter in last week's edition headlined "Take a stand", is disingenuous at the least in asserting the minister "will determine if we retain our laws on gun control".

The minister concerned has nothing to do with gun laws. The minister is to decide if a trial of pest control for destruction of feral species will be held in two specific areas.

A similar system to that proposed has operated in Victoria and NSW for many years and has saved their governments a heap of money in controlling feral pest species and enabled meat from edible species to be used.
