Money over lives

Money over lives

IN relation to high-speed deaths on WA’s country roads, there has been the old proposal that the Department of Transport unlicense all vehicles capable of more than 110km/h and not relicense them until they become fitted with speed-limiting governors or, at least, audible speeding alarms.

The proposal suggested that some emergency vehicles might need to be exempted or governed at a higher increment.

No Monash University study is known to have been done.

Perhaps the present Government prefers the raising of speed camera revenues instead of an option of saving human lives.
