More hip pocket pain thanks to huge state debt

Name and address suppliedComment News

ANOTHER year the WA treasurer is reaching into public pockets far beyond the CPI for more revenues to reduce the worst government state debt level.

Most new fees and charges are nearly double the CPI and water use, wastage and emergency services fees are more than four times the CPI.

Most wage increases have been the lowest on record over two decades. The base rate for unemployment income has not increased for more than two decades.

No wonder the Water Corporation and Synergy have increasing customers not being able to pay accounts and financial assistance agencies are not able adequately to assist people with debts issues, especially as the government has reduced funding to these agencies.
