Opinion: Politicians like balloons

A LOT OF BALONEY

OBSERVING politicians today, one is reminded of the barrage balloons ringing cities and airports in the UK during the last World War.

They and politicians share the same features – big bags of gas hanging around not doing very much, except for taking up a lot of space.

At least the balloons required a minuscule amount of money to perform a function.

If only one could say the same about “pollies”.

For such a small population, why does Australia require so many?

The war ended and the balloons were packed away. Politicians go on forever, it seems.
