Persistent rain forced the match to be moved from the main pitch over to the third pitch, which may have been a blessing as it is the One Day F team’s normal ground.

Leeming won the toss and batted first, but soon wished they hadn’t.

Alex Pass took two wickets in a brilliant spell (2-5 off 7) and Rhett Jones snared one as Leeming slumped to 3-5.

Leeming got back on track and were looking good at 3-49 before James Ogden and Warren Francis again took the heart out of the opposition middle order.

Ogden bowled superbly to take 3-33, while Francis (1-28) removed Leeming’s top scorer as the team slumped to 7-63.

At 7-97, Leeming looked ominous again before Steve Brown and Steve Jones affected a crucial run out.

Rhett Jones came back on and finished the innings off (2-13) with Peter Smith who snared 1-4 as Leeming were dismissed for 112.

Armadale got off to a terrible start in reply being 1-2, before Chris Quayle smacked 22.

A collapse saw Armadale fall to 4-32.

Gene Aldridge (14) teamed up with Pete Smith and they took the score to 51.

Glen Andrews made a rapid 14 but his dismissal, followed by another, left Armadale in trouble at 7-74 and still needing 39 to win with only three wickets in hand.

Peter Smith batted soundly at one end, but he desperately needed someone to stick around.

He found the perfect ally in James Ogden, who held up one end beautifully as Smith methodically picked off the bad balls in a marvellous controlled run chase.

Armadale passed the score seven wickets down as Ogden hit a six to win the game, finishing with a crucial eight not out.
