Kennelly said it was a huge honour to be putting on the green and gold.

“I am super excited to get away and be able to compete,” he said.

“I have growing up playing with and against most of the guys on the Australian team.

“The team we’ve got right now is very strong and we are very capable of doing it.”

He said he believed the team were capable of taking the gold medal and the Australian team played the right way, but hard.

His brother Matt was recently named the manager of the Perth Heat and Sam said it would be interesting playing under him next season.
