Baseball: Perth Heat torches Adelaide Bite in series win

PERTH Heat have wrapped up its fifth series win of the season away to Adelaide Bite in the Australian Baseball League over the weekend.

The Heat claimed bragging rights after winning three out of four games in Adelaide to consolidate second place on the ladder.

They wrapped up the series with a 5-3 victory yesterday, following 5-3 and 17-10 wins and an 8-6 loss in South Australia.

Jess Williams enjoyed a strong series, scoring a vital solo home run in the opening 5-3 victory before recording five RBIs (runs batted in) in the 17-10 win.

Kyle Simon continued his good form at the mound, while fellow pitcher and Major League Baseball player Warwick Saupold made some crucial plays down the stretch in his Perth Heat return in game one.

The Heat returns to Perth Ballpark for a five-game series against Sydney Blue Sox this Friday, including two games on Saturday.
