CANNING Vale golfer Maddison Hinson-Tolchard has had a week to remember with two big victories at the Australian Junior Amateur Championships.

After a dominant performance to win the Girls’ Australian Junior Amateur competition, Hinson-Tolchard followed it up by captaining the Girls’ Interstate team to a one-up victory.

Hinson-Tolchard herself hit the final shot, chipping the ball in on the 18th hole to seal a memorable victory.

She had began her week in superb fashion, shooting 14-under-par to win the Junior Amateur Championship by four shots.

The victory included six straight birdies in the third round, which moved her out of reach of her nearest competitors and also sealed a spot in the 2019 Australian Open.

The Girls’ Interstate team came in as underdogs but, led by their captain, marched to four wins in a row to seal a famous victory at home.

Meanwhile, Kalgoorlie’s Connor Fewkes took out the Boys’ Australian Amateur Championship at Gosnells Golf Club, finishing the final round with a birdie on 16 and pars on 17 and 18.
