Combined effort for win: WACA Premier Cricket

Francis CurroComment News

Last season’s first grade runners-up side enjoyed a fine team performance, with plenty of contributions in the six-wicket win.

Gosnells won the toss and chose to bowl at Sutherlands Park and this paid off, reducing the away side to 4-59 early.

Matt Hanna was the chief destroyer with 3-28, well supported by former Lincolnshire player Aaron Onyon (2-25).

Chasing Mt Lawley’s total of 181, the home side cruised with Tim Hale, Luis Reece and Darcy Short all hitting half-centuries.

The hosts passed the total with eight overs remaining in a comprehensive win.

Short was particularly impressive, smashing 56 runs off just 41 balls, including three sixes, while Reece and Hale put on a 99-run partnership to open the innings.

Gosnells will look to make it a 4-0 start to the season next weekend, when they face Subiaco Floreat and Bayswater-Morley in the Saturday-Sunday double.
