Football: Maddington too strong for Bassendean, running out 66-point victors

ROUND eight had Maddington host Bassendean down at Harmony Fields.

With Bassendean coming off a solid win last week, and Maddington having its first loss, it was always going to be a tough contest.

Maddington was too strong in the end, winning 17.17 (119) to 8.5 (53), which puts Maddington on top of the ladder. The first quarter was a tight affair, with Bassendean winning a lot of the contested ball and taking their opportunities in front of goal.

Maddington then went into quarter-time with a tight lead.

The second quarter was much of the same.

Maddington got on top of the contest, but wasted their opportunity in front of goal, going into half-time with a one-goal lead.

At the break Maddington addressed some key areas and in the third quarter they started to get on top.

The last quarter was the Gab Denton show as he dazzled the crowd and the Bulls ran away with the game, scoring a 66-point win.
