Games come to Muslim community

Multiple games were played across two days to celebrate the end of Ramadan.

Both events involved various Islamic schools from around Perth, with the Australian Islamic College in Thornlie part of the action.

The Bachar Houli Cup was played on Wednesday with about 150 high school students, while Thursday played host to the Eid El Fitr Cup that featured 350 primary school students.

This year was the third Eid Cup and the inaugural year of the Bachar Houli Cup.

WAFL community engagement manager Paul Mugambwa said it was a great way to introduce football to Muslim communities.

"We hope that all participants have fun on the day and are keen to learn more about getting involved in the football pathway," he said.

"For our staff and volunteers, it is also an opportunity to learn more about the Islamic faith and engage with the participants."
