MADISON Hinson-Tolchard is relishing the opportunity to lead WA’s Girls team at the Australian Junior Interstate Series.

The Canning Vale teenager was named captain of the side ahead of this month’s competition at Royal Perth Golf Club.

The Penrhos College student, who is also competing individually at the Australian Junior Amateur Championships in Perth ahead of the Interstate Series, said she was proud to captain the girls side and was excited for the two tournaments.

“I always look forward to this time of the year, and the team this year I get along with really well and I think we’ve got a really strong team,” she said.

Madison said she was hopeful the team could improve on last year’s 5th place showing and was personally aiming to repeat last year’s top five finish at the Amateur Championship.

“I just hope all the girls put in their best effort possible, I think we’re a really strong team and we can compete with the other states,” she said.

“I hope we get a win, but I hope everyone puts in their best efforts.”

The Australian Junior Amateur Championships take place at Gosnells Golf Club (boys) and Royal Perth Golf Club (girls) from April 11-13, while the Australian Junior Interstate Series takes place from April 15-19 at Royal Perth Golf Club (girls) and Hartfield Golf Club (boys).
