James spell sets up grand final win

Armadale won the toss and batted first with openers Carl Inness (10) and Gursharn Singh (14) getting the side off to a solid start with an opening partnership of 20.

Asim Mehmood chipped in with a handy 20, while Paul James made a rapid 11, and Oswin D’Sylva made 27.

A middle order wobble saw Armadale fall to 6-113, but Ash Starling and Kim Hunt (21) added a handy 53.

Starling and the tail got to 179 before he was dismissed for a great 46.

Piara Waters got off to a flyer, cruising at 0-40 off seven overs, before Kim Hunt took 2-24 off his eight.

Mehmood (1-26) snared a wicket as Piara Waters stumbled to 3-53. They recovered to be cruising again at 3-89 off only 18 overs. Enter Paul James, who bowled his eight overs straight, taking four wickets in a great spell.

He finished with the fine figures of 4-34 as Piara Waters crumbled to 9-132 at the end of his spell. Rohan D’Sylva (1-17) and Skipper Raebern D’Sylva (1-15) also bowled well in this period. Piara sent some nerves through the Armadale camp with a sturdy 16-run last wicket partnership, before Jason Julien (1-9) snared the last wicket as Piara Waters were dismissed for 148.
