The one-and-a-half hour clinic at the Beckenham Angels’ home ground in Mills Park on Brixton Road, covered dribbling, shooting, tackling and getting past opposition players in a series of drills.
The girls taking part received a surprise visit and talk by three female Perth Glory players, including Matildas co-captain Kate Gill.
Gill told the girls if they had the skills and worked hard enough, they may be able to travel overseas and play in the growing numbers of professional leagues, as well as for Australia.
The Angels, the present Football West women’s State League cup winner and 2012 premier league champion, is building for the future by fielding teams in the Perth metropolitan U13 and U15 junior divisions in 2014.
The club is also fielding a Division 1 metropolitan women’s team to develop young players, including those in their late teens.
