NPLWA: Armadale lose third consecutive game

Jessica NicoComment News

ARMADALE has slipped to ninth on the NPL WA ladder with just one game left in the season after a 3-1 loss to Sorrento on Saturday afternoon.

Sorrento went into the halftime break with a handy 2-0 lead, but Armadale looked set to challenge when Josh Kuser got his team back into the game in the second half.

Kuser chested the ball into the back of the net off a Ryan Haslett cross in the 49th minute to bring the score back to 2-1, but Sorrento killed any chance of a comeback with a third goal just 10 minutes.

Armadale coach John O’Reilly said it had been an “atrocious performance”.

“The boys really let themselves down,” he said.

“Everything that I thought had become a part of our game was not there today,” he said.

The third consecutive loss marks what would be a disappointing end to the season for a team that just a few weeks ago were riding a hot streak that saw them lose just one game in six weeks.

Armadale will end their 2018 NPL WA season against Cockburn City at Dalmatinac Park from 3pm August 25.
