NPLWA: Armadale suffer back to back losses after 3-1 defeat to Perth Glory

Jessica NicoComment News

ARMADALE has suffered their second NPL WA loss in a row after going down to title-favourites Perth Glory on Saturday.

The home side started shakily when they allowed Glory to score in the fourth minute, but were able to rally for the rest of the first half to keep the score 1-0 at the main break.

The tight contest continued until the 69th minute when Glory scored again before the visitors securing the win with a third in the 87th.

The game finished with a 3-1 win to Glory after Armadale were able to drag one back in injury time through NPL WA top scorer Chris Jackson.

Armadale coach John O’Reilly said it was a better performance than their 5-0 effort against Floreat the week before.

“It was definitely an improvement from last week, the boys were a little bit more awake today,” he said.

“Credit to Glory though, I thought they defended well and they punished us even though they created very few chances.

“It just feels like it’s been a long season with the cup run and I think that’s starting to take its toll on us at the moment.

“We have two games left against Sorrento and Cockburn so hopefully we can finish the season on a winning note.”

The wins leaves Glory just one win away from taking the NPLWA title.

Eighth-placed Armadale next take on ninth-placed Sorrento from 3pm August 18 at Percy Doyle Reserve, Duncraig.
