Premier Cricket: Armadale’s first grade get better of Phoenix

ARMADALE’S First-Grade have had a resounding win over Phoenix after winning the toss and batting first.

Mark Rice got off to a handy start, making 36 before Kodie McKrill (58) and Jeff Petrie punished the Phoenix attack.

Matthew Moore chipped in with 20 in his first First-Grade game, and Damian Carroll made 18 as Armadale made 9-240.

Kodie McKrill (5-32) crumbled Phoenix to 6-28, with Damian Carroll also bowling well (2-29), before Jake Forsyth took 2-21 for Phoenix to end on 118.

Third Grade have gone down to Phoenix, who won the toss and batted.

They struggled early, falling to 4-51, with 7-103 as Alex Cumming (2-35), Vishwas Lall (2-39) and Ainsley Noronha (2-32) all bowled well.

Anton Bickley was the top scorer with 26, but Armadale were never in the hunt as they were rolled for 84.

One Day A took on Forrestdale and got off to a great start, thanks to Asim Mehmood (52) and Christian Furk (66) who put on 107 for the second wicket.

Raebern D’Sylva (30no) saw Armadale finishing on 7-247.

In reply, Forrestdale never had a chance, rolled for 128.

Asim Mehmood led the way with 3-21, while Abdi Warsame (2-16) and Ash Starling (2-13) both bowled well.

One Day C went down to SJ Blues, who made 7-216 batting first.

James Gardner was superb with the ball, snaring 2-14 off 8, while Mitch Marsh (2-43) and George Knowles (2-51) were the other multiple wicket-takers.

In reply, Armadale got off to a great start, thanks to David Jardine (41) and George Knowles (35), before Calvin D’Sylva (26) and Jagadeesh Ganesan (35 n.o.) teamed up, as Armadale were looking good at 2-109.

Regular wickets fell, however, and Armadale could only manage 173.

One Day E took on Cockburn and won the toss and batted.

Warren Francis (22) and Steve Jones (20) started well, before Dave Armstrong made a breezy 29 as Armadale reached a comfortable 4-102. A big collapse saw them fall to 8-125 and in deep trouble.

Enter Brian Davey. He batted superbly, with firstly Andrew Stoodley (10) to put on 23, and then Jimmy McClure (13) as the last pair put on 40 to enable a solid 9-188.

Davey ended up with a match-winning 30 n.o.

In reply, Cockburn started well to be 1-53 before Warren Francis (3-26) and Andrew Stoodley (3-24) spun a web as Cockburn were rolled for 127.

One Day F had a good win against Kwinana.

Armadale made a competitive 6-151.

Kwinana slumped to 5-45, before fighting back, but it wasn’t enough as they were bowled out for 122.
