Club members Rochelle Ceriani, Amber Hamilton, Anna Thornton, Kate Farley, Daniel Foucar, Lee Blackwell and Rhys Bennetts will race against top rowers at Sydney’s International Regatta Centre during the week-long competition from March 23 to 30.

The club will enter races in the single scull and double scull events, with Rhys Bennetts and Kate Farley racing in the Under-21 category.

Daniel, who is the rowing captain, said he hoped Champion Lakes Boating Club rowers would feature in the semi final races and then go on to qualify for the final in some events.

‘This is a high expectation, but one we feel we can achieve,’ he said.

‘Three rowers made it to the final round of selection for the WA state rowing team, but they narrowly missed out.

‘The progression of these rowers in the state team selection process underlines the club’s ability to produce top level competitive rowers.’

The club members have been training under rowing coach Greg Wilson, who formerly coached the high performance program at ANA rowing club in Bayswater.

Wilson has been aiming to build the competitive standard of rowers within the club. Champion Lakes Boating Club is looking for new rowers from the local area. Visit www.clbc.org.au.
