Socceroo-in-waiting Trent Sainsbury was an Armadale junior before progressing through the National Training Centre, Australian Institute of Sport and Perth Glory Youth, before signing for the Mariners.

Sainsbury has now helped the Mariners win last season’s A-League grand final against Western Sydney Wanderers and was recently nominated for the Young Footballer of The Year.

That success earned Armadale a $1500 equipment pack and a $1000 sponsor donation, and club officials hope the club can show its appreciation by adding a splash of red to the crowd during the Mariners match.

‘We want to see as many Armadale fans as possible at nib Stadium wearing the club kit or polo shirt to show support and appreciation for what Trent has achieved,’ said president Tony Greipl.

‘We hope we can get our hands on some tickets and be able to provide a bit of a discount to fans.

‘And if we get enough interest, we’ll look to put on a bus from our home ground at Alfred Skeet up to Perth Oval and back.

‘We all know that every A-League game is live on pay tv, so it’s also a chance for us to give the rest of the country a little bit of a taste of the Army support.’
