Silver for wheelchair basketball team

The team finished runners-up to Queensland in the Kevin Coombs Cup at the national championships in Canberra on April 17.

The biannual event brings together the most talented junior players in the sport, looking to become the next generation of Australian Rollers and Australian Gliders.

Ryan is a Year 8 student at Lumen Christi College in Martin and has spina bifida, but he does not let that hold him back.

He began playing basketball when he was six years old. This was his first time representing WA.

Most of his teammates are older and it took Ryan some time to gain enough strength and power to get a spot on the team.

‘My favourite memory of the Kevin Coombs Cup was shooting my first goal,’ he said.
