KELMSCOTT Roos completely outclassed Ellenbrook United in round eight of the State League Division Two, winning 4-0.

Kelmscott trialled a shift in personnel with the club’s leading goal scorer Owen Curtis moved into defensive central midfield to allow Linden Pywell more creative licence.

Tait Comley took a free kick on the stroke of 20 minutes right in front of the Kelmscott bench; the ball was whipped into the box landing on an Ellenbrook head and looping goalkeeper Dan Cicchini to send Kelmscott 1-0 up.

Kelmscott went into the halftime break looking fairly comfortable, but coach Chris Bates had other ideas and implored the team to seize its opportunities.

Kelmscott came out for the second half fired up and another free kick on 53 minutes lead to the second goal.

Jason Godfrey took the free kick in a similar position to the first one; Curtis obliged and headed the ball to the left of Cicchini who managed to spill a simple catch and Sully Rogers was on hand to tap into the empty net to send Kelmscott 2-0 up.

On 81 minutes, Curtis went from provider to scorer as he rose highest to a corner to send a bullet header towards goal.

With the game petering out, Jason Godfrey proved that Forrestfield’s loss was Kelmscott’s gain as the big defender took charge of another free kick; the ball again whipped in for Rogers to tuck home and complete the rout.

The win sent the home side up the ladder into eighth position, with Kelmscott finding consistency winning two in a row.

Kelmscott host promotion hopefuls Balga next weekend with the early season promise now starting to turn into points.

Man of the match was awarded to Sully Rogers with the commanding Jason Godfrey closely behind.

The reserves game ended in a hard fought 1-1 draw, while the Under-18s suffered their second heavy defeat this season going down 7-0.
