Southern Districts Rifle Club members on target

SOUTHERN Districts Rifle Club held its three positional club medal shoot on July 16 with Angela B holding the highest score of the day.

The event simulates the field positions of prone, standing and sitting or kneeling unsupported.

This discipline is similar to competitions seen at Olympic and Commonwealth Games but is modified to suit club level competition and does not require expensive equipment and eases some of the rules such as allowing the use of slings when standing.

Though the weather on the day consisted of rain and windy conditions, which proved slightly tricky for some, there were some very competitive scores posted.

Angela B had the highest position score of the day with an excellent sit/kneel score of 197.07 from a possible 200.20.

Veselko T had an excellent prone score of 197.04 with the nearest rival 5 points behind.

The standing position is the most challenging of the positions with Graham B top scoring with an excellent 176.02.

David M and Terry M posted personal best scores in the windy conditions proving that they both have improved steadily over the last few months.

Terry M is new to the discipline but has experience in other fields, which assisted him in moving from C Grade to A Grade in a very short period.

David M has been putting in a lot of hard work and is now reaping the rewards by advancing up the grades rapidly of late to jump from A Grade to AA Grade and post some excellent scores along the way.

Ten more points and David M will be challenging the Master Grade AAA shooters.
