ROWING clubs across the State will hold an open day on November 8 to showcase the sport and teach people how to row.

There will be a State-wide ergo competition for the non-rowers. The winners for each category will win a learn to row course from their preferred club.

Eleven clubs across WA will take part including Champion Lakes Boating Club, Curtin University Boat Club, Fremantle Rowing Club, UWA Boat Club, Murdoch Rowing Club, Perth Rowing Club, Swan River Rowing Club and Western Australian Rowing Club.

Timothy Widdicombe from the University of Western Australia Boat Club said rowing was the ultimate team sport.

“It offers you the complete body workout,” he said.

“The friendship that you gain is much stronger than you will from other sports – because of the training commitments and the work load that you do together.”
