GOSNELLS suffered their second consecutive loss to start the WA Premier First Grade season after going down by 33 runs to Floreat Subiaco at Floreat Park Oval.
Despite a spirited century by captain Matthew Leipold, Gosnells were unable to chase down their opponents total of 8-218, finishing all out for 185.
Calum Howe (95) got the hosts off to the perfect start as he hit 10 fours in his 113 balls to put his side in the driver’s seat. Jakob Horsman’s two quick wickets began Gosnells fightback and although Aaron Keverne-Onyon took three late tail-end wickets, Andrew Holder’s 65 not out proved to be enough to guide Floreat Subiaco to a strong total.
Timothy Hale, Ben Green and Alistair Bivens were all dismissed early to leave them at 3-27, although Leipold refused to go down without a fight. His partnership with Jonathon Crowe (33) guided Gosnells to 3-138 as they looked threatening. But Crowe was dismissed and while Leipold reached 100, he was dismissed with the side on 6-163.
