Wins elusive as Armadale go down to Balcatta in NPLWA

Jessica NicoComment News

WINS continue to elude Armadale SC after they suffered a 2-1 loss to Balcatta in round seven of the NPLWA.

The game was an arm-wrestle in the first half and missed chances from both sides had the score remain 0-0 at half time.

But it was Balcatta that came out firing in the second half, missing a couple of big chances before Anton De Francesch finally found the back of the net at the 77 minute mark.

Armadale dragged it back to a one-all draw after Chris Jackson tapped it passed the keeper in the 84th minute, but just two minutes later De Francesch sealed the match for Balcatta with another screamer.

The loss has Armadale struggling in second-last place on the ladder with one win, two draws and four losses.

Armadale assistant coach Simon Walker said the loss could be put down to a lack of focus.

“It wasn’t what we planned for but these games happen, we weren’t on our game and we got punished for it,” he said.

“The boys are very disappointed with the performance they put in but we’ll get back into training and put it right next week.

“It’s just focus. When you score a goal and you’re all on a high, then lose your shape you’re going to concede and that’s exactly what we did.

“It’s just a very poor performance on our part, the poorest one we’ve had all year and we’re very disappointed with the result.”

Armadale will be looking to bounce back when they play ECU Joondalup from 3pm April 14 at ECU Joondalup Football Stadium.
