Bibra Lake: witnesses detain man who allegedly attempted to flee crash

WITNESSES detained a man who allegedly attempted to flee the scene of a car crash in Bibra Lake just after noon yesterday.

Police said the man was with another male in a Mazda sedan that was allegedly driving dangerously when it crashed into a grey Toyota and a power pole about 12.30pm on Port Kembla Drive.

“It is further alleged that one of the men attempted to leave the area,” a spokeswoman said.

“Several members of the public assisted to detain the man until police arrived on the scene.”

The driver of the Mazda and female driver of the Toyota received non-life threatening injuries and were taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital.

Officers charged a 27-year-old Leda man with attempted robbery, dangerous driving causing bodily harm, driving without a licence and failing to render assistance.

He is due to face Perth Magistrates Court today.

A 20-year-old South Lake man was charged with carrying an article to cause fear.

He is due to face Fremantle Magistrates Court on June 29.

Investigators wish to speak with anyone who saw the crash or has dash-cam footage relating to the incident.
