OCEAN Reef Senior High School will soon take centre stage after receiving $5 million for a new performing arts centre in the 2018-19 State Budget.
The project had been announced in the last budget but with funds now allocated over this financial year and next, planning is expected to start in June, with construction in 2019 and the centre to open in 2020.
Premier Mark McGowan was at the school this afternoon to spruik the project.

READ NOW“Building performing arts centres is a key election commitment and will bring schools and communities together,” he said.
Joondalup MLA Emily Hamilton said Ocean Reef SHS offered a specialist contemporary music program and a new performing arts centre would “provide a fantastic location for future performances”.
“The performing arts centre will provide students with an exceptional environment to perform, as well as providing an additional venue for local community groups to utilise,” she said.
Burns Beach MLA Mark Folkard added it would be a “big asset to the northern suburbs communities”.
Ballajura Community College will also receive $5 million over two years for a new performing arts centre, while Belridge Secondary College and Belmont City College were allocated their $5 million each for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 financial years.
Planning and construction of the $4.5 million upgrade of Melville Senior High School’s performing arts centre will continue.
