A REPORT from the Ministerial Expert Panel on Voluntary Assisted Dying was tabled in the Legislative Assembly on June 27.
Mandurah MLA David Templeman said the report was the result of extensive community consultation by an expert panel, chaired by former Governor Malcolm McCusker AC QC.
“The expert panel conducted extensive consultation sessions and forums throughout Western Australia, including a public forum held in Mandurah which attracted about 100 local participants.” Mr Templeman said.

READ NOWThe Panel’s Final Report includes 31 recommendations to help inform upcoming voluntary assisted dying legislation which is expected to be introduced into the State Parliament in August.
“This report and the extensive consultation conducted by the expert panel is an important step closer to the introduction of Voluntary Assisted Dying Legislation for Western Australia.” Mr Templeman said.
Murray-Wellington MLA Robyn Clarke said it was vital the issue, that had attracted extensive community interest and support, was finally debated in a respectful way in the Western Australian Parliament.
“We welcome comments and contact from people in our electorates with regard to their views on the issue,” she said.
“We are both supportive of providing people who are suffering a terminal condition greater control and choice with regard to their treatment and end of life options.”
The Legislation is expected to be introduced in August and debated in the Legislative Assembly later that month and into September.
