Cirque Nouvelle prepares to bring circus theatrics to Mandurah with acrobatic duo making return home

A globetrotting circus couple will return to their Mandurah home next month for a show that promises to wow audiences.

Rebecca and James Capener are taking their circus-inspired show Cirque Nouvelle to the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre stage on April 7 as part of a regional tour.

The performance will look back on the history of circus from the traditional big top to modern day through acrobatics, juggling, aerials, balancing, contortion and other acts.

The show will mark the second time Cirque Nouvelle has entertained local crowds, with a sold out debut in March 2023.

The Capeners will display their acrobatic juggling duo act alongside performers from WA and NSW.

Mrs Capener said the audience could “expect to see things you may have never seen before” in their theatrics, which will feature LED effects and fire.

“The show is guaranteed to captivate and thrill the whole family, with various circus skills performed by experienced performers who have worked all over the world,” she said.

“(We will) entertain you with highly entertaining circus acts but also take you on a heart-warming journey through our ringmaster, who explores the ways in which circus has evolved.”

The couple has spent the past nine years travelling around the world and performing on cruise ships, hotels, resorts and international stages, but are Mandurah-based when they are not taking their show on the road.

“Performing in front of a home crowd is always extremely rewarding,” Mrs Capener said.

“Due to the nature of always working abroad, our close family and friends rarely have the opportunity to see what we do, so performing in Mandurah makes it extra special.”
