International travel TV show Adventure All Stars films new season in Mandurah

Mandurah residents may see TV cameras in town this week as an international philanthropic TV show films its newest season in the city.

Travel series Adventure All Stars Legends 2 started filming in Mandurah on Monday as a cast of 12 returning favourites from previous seasons spend four days experiencing the offerings of Australia’s top tourism town and the surrounding Peel region.

The show allows everyday Australians who have qualified to join the show by fundraising for a chosen charity to take part in an international travel show.

“We are the world’s only socially conscious TV travel show,” Adventure All Stars executive producer Troy Gray said.

“And we’re also the biggest contributor to charity of any TV show in Australia.

“Anyone that showcases any interest in being a cast member on the show, to qualify they must first raise funds for their nominated charity.

“And then their award for supporting a charity in that manner is to be taken away to a secret location for a week of fun and adventure.”

Net proceeds for the production are donated to charity, with the Legends 2 season supporting Great Lakes Womens Shelter, Leukaemia Support Queensland, Muscular Dystrophy Australia, Myeloma Australia, Project Karma, So Brave and Walk a While Foundation.

As part of the experience, locations and activities are kept secret from the cast.

Gray said they were not even told their destination would be Mandurah until after they flew into WA and arrived in the city.

Melbourne-based participant Angel Akarana said she “couldn’t believe it” when she arrived in Mandurah as she has visited family in the city before.

“It is amazing to be able to come and explore because all I’ve done when I’ve visited family is go to their house, the beach and the foreshore,” she said.

“But I have no idea what else Mandurah has got to offer and I can’t wait to see it.”

Akarana is on the show alongside her sister Karina, who have both raised tens of thousands of dollars for So Brave, a national charity supporting young women with breast cancer.

The cause is close to home for the sisters, who are both breast cancer survivors, with Akarana first appearing on Adventure All Stars just months after completing her cancer treatment.

“Being involved with this show highlights our charities that we fundraise for and that we’re passionate for,” Akarana said.

“So everyone that’s on the trip here in Mandurah, we’re all fundraising for different charities.

“We do it because we’re passionate about raising awareness about our charities, but also to come together and have an adventure of a lifetime.”

The participants arrived in Mandurah in time for the weekend’s Crab Fest before their first day of filming on Monday took them on an e-bike tour to the Giants of Mandurah with local operator The Bike Kiosk and to Dwellingup to tackle the Treetops Adventure ropes course at Lane Poole Reserve.

The rest of their Mandurah filming itinerary will involve surfing, a dolphin experience, a seafood cruise and even skydiving as they get a taste of everything the region has to offer.

Seasons one to three of Adventure All Stars are available to watch in Australia via 7PLUS and will this year screen in 195 countries to an audience approaching 200 million people through international broadcasters.

After their time in Mandurah, the participants will film at another secret location, this time in the South Pacific.

Adventure All Stars Legends 2 will screen on 7Plus in the last quarter of 2024.
