Located on the former camping area of Club Capricorn Resort, the park is part of a new development stage in the Capricorn Yanchep estate.

The $1 million first phase of the 3.6ha park opened in early December and resident Melissa Emery said it was a good place to bring her three children, Lily, Koby and Indianna.

“I have been really impressed how the existing sand dunes have been retained and integrated into the park through innovations such as the dune tunnel slide which is a big favourite of the kids,” she said.

“They also love the variety of other play equipment, including the incline net climber and basket swing.

“As a parent, it is a great place to bring the kids because I can relax under the large retained gum trees while they play.

“The toddlers play area is also an added bonus for my youngest daughter Indianna, who recently turned one.”

Project director Jarrod Rendell said that many residents had given positive feedback on the park since it opened, enjoying features such as the mature trees, grassed areas and timber walkways.

“It also acts as an important social meeting place for local families,” he said.

“We have carefully designed the Campground Adventure Park so that it reflects its past heritage as a camping ground with the picnic shelter, for example, being constructed in the shape of a retro caravan.”
