Kristie LimEastern Reporter

A BASSENDEAN business served up sandwiches to 385 customers in a bid to fight hunger globally on World Sandwich Day last week.

Subway Bassendean, alongside other franchises, helped donate 287,982 meals to people in need through Foodbank as part of Subway’s Live Feed initiative.

Former West Coast Eagles premiership star Andrew Embley made an appearance at the Bassendean event.

Foodbank Australia chief executive Brianna Casey said 15 per cent of the Australian population had experienced food insecurity in the past 12 months.
