THE first variation of Bega’s peanut butter has hit supermarket shelves to celebrate today’s National Peanut Day.
Dark roast peanut butter has a new robust taste, with the peanuts roasted at a higher temperature to give more flavour.
Since acquiring the original peanut butter recipe last year, the new product is a glimpse into the developments to come in the near future.
Bega said it developed the new edition to accommodate the changing palette of the Australian consumer and to ensure the product offers a sensory point of difference.
Still with the same recipe, it uses hi-oleic peanuts, which are rich in good fats allowing the peanuts to stay fresher for longer and gives them extra crunch.
With no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives, as well as a gluten-free option, dark roast peanut butter offers more than half of the daily nut target (30g) in each serving.
The new flavour is available in crunchy and smooth.
