Big Bethanie Bake Off entries open

Staff writerEastern Reporter

A FAMILY recipe passed down from one generation to another is one of life’s precious moments, whether it is a delicious chocolate cake or tasty pasta sauce.

Entries are open for the sixth annual Big Bethanie Bake Off, bringing Perth’s oldest and youngest chefs together to showcase their culinary skills and share the magic of intergenerational cooking.

To take part in the live cooking event, school aged children and Bethanie seniors must submit their unique recipes, as well as the history behind them.

Each submission is judged on creativity, nutritional value and complexity of the recipe, along with the story behind their secret family recipe.

Four juniors and four seniors will be selected as finalists to compete in the live bake-off on November 13 at Have-a-Go Day, a LiveLighter event.

Judges will choose three winners on the day in categories, Best Senior, Best Junior and the overall Big Bethanie Bake Off Champion.

The 2018 Big Bethanie Bake Off Champion was Isabell Neill from Bethanie Kwinana Living Well Centre for her cauliflower mustard pickles.
