Abbe May returns to port city for Fremantle Festival

Jessica NicoEastern Reporter

MUSICIAN Abbe May loves Fremantle so much, she jumped at the chance to return to the port city for this year’s Fremantle Festival.

Stepping away from the usual stand-and-sing performance, she will be resurrecting last year’s hit offering The Tonight Show Starring Abbe May, interviewing and playing alongside special guests including Elli Schoen, Lee Sappho, Timothy Nelson and Steve Gibson.

May said Fremantle felt like home and she was honoured to bring the show back to this year’s festival.

“You can expect to hear me perform with, and interview, my pick of some of WA’s most successful and most interesting musicians,” she said.

“Each interview is a chance for the artist to reveal sides of their personalities and lives that may not be possible to reveal at their own shows.

“It is all pretty spontaneous and totally unrecorded so it is a one-off chance to experience these intimate performances and chats with some of WA’s finest.”

Fans of her music will not have to wait too long for her latest offering, with May admitting she was close to finishing and releasing her new album Bitchcraft.

The Tonight Show Starring Abbe May is at the Fremantle Town Hall on October 31 from 8pm.

The Fremantle Festival runs from October 28 to November 6.
