Ballbreaker to rock AC/DC hits

Kristie LimEastern Reporter

FEMALE rockers from new AC/DC tribute band Ballbreaker will be performing at the Bassendean Hotel for the first time next week.

Scottish-born vocalist Kathryn Lamb, guitarists Krissy Sanfead and Selina Ceeps, bassist Jade Champion and drummer Lauren Reece will perform songs from the late Bon Scott’s last album, Highway To Hell to celebrate the album’s 40th anniversary on July 13.

Sanfead said the band was planning a classic and energetic Bon Scott-themed set for the show.

“We really like to put on a good show so it’s safe to say expect it to be loud and entertaining,” she said.

“We’ve only been playing as a band since the beginning of the year, so it’s really exciting to be bringing the show to different areas across Perth.”

“This will be a first eastern suburbs show so hopefully we will see a few new faces.

“Some of the girls have played there in their original bands, so we hope to see some familiar faces too.”

Sanfead thanked their manager Mal Osborne for bringing the members together to break barriers between women and male rock bands.

“He was the brains behind the whole project in getting something a bit different together for Bonfest Freo this year,” she said.

“All the girls have played in some really great local original bands and it really tied in well with our influences and personalities.

“From our first rehearsal you could really feel a fantastic energy so we’ve been continuing the show to pay our best respects towards one of the world’s greatest bands.”

The band will be at the Perth Rocks Festival at the Civic Hotel in Inglewood on July 27 and Indian Ocean Hotel in Scarborough with fellow band Hells Bells on August 17.
