The international model, who first graced our screens in 2006 after shedding 30kg, was in town last week to open the Perth Fashion Festival.

Falkiner said she was honoured to be involved with the festival and watched the first show by Dilettante, featuring designers 33 Poets, Yang Li and Toni Maticevski.

She added she loved Perth designers, in particular Ali Cotton of label First Base.

With week one of The Biggest Loser Families over, Falkiner said she was excited to be back where her journey began.

“I had been living and working overseas as a plus-size model and I was back in Australia for a shoot when I got a call from one of the executive producers asking if I would come in and do a screen test,” Falkiner said.

“It all happened very quickly.

“I found out I had the role while back in London and had to fly directly from London to Australia.

“Obviously it is a very different experience being the host, but such a rewarding experience. ”

The 31-year-old, who will offer support to the contestants, said she loved what the show stood for and believed it gave the contestants a second chance at life.

“It teaches lessons that you can draw on at any stage of your life in improving your health, fitness and general wellbeing,” she said.

“Most contestants, myself included, enter the house with a very negative outlook and the words ‘I can’t’ are used all too often, but after a period of time while working with the trainers, you are able to break through this habit and just give everything a go.”
