VINTAGE glamour, cheeky humour and amazing circus poured into one champagne glass is how hula hoop artist Jess Mews describes Strut and Fret production Blanc de Blanc.
After a season at Regal Theatre in 2016, the bubbly cabaret returns, this time for Fringe World in the intimate setting of The Famous Spiegeltent at The Pear Tree.
Cottesloe performer Mews joined the Blanc de Blanc cast two years ago after the Regal Theatre season but had been pursuing the company for the past seven years

“You’re having a good time as an audience and I’m having an equally good time on stage.”
Mews began at WA Circus School in Fremantle when she was five years old, her mum enrolling her “because I couldn’t walk in a straight line and I was really bad at making friends”.
After starting with the circus fundamentals of juggling and acrobats, she found her love of hula hoops when she was 12 years old.
“I left home when I was 15 and joined The Flying Fruit Fly Circus in Albury Wodonga,” she said.
“I’m still trying to explain my career choice to my mum.”
Mews has performed professionally for five years across Australia, Europe and Canada with plans to return to Europe at the end of this year.
She said audiences would see her Blanc de Blanc character as “a fierce enigma”.
“But please come and say hi to me after the show because I’m not as mean in real life.”
Other cast members include Monsieur Romeo, Jarrod Bates, Hampus Jansson, JaiMime, Laura New and Milena Straczynski.
