Bloom Sings the Adele Songbook at Astor Theatre

Tanya MacNaughtonEastern Reporter

PERTH singer Amanda Canzurlo aka Bloom is counting down the days until Adele’s Australian tour, when she will see the British superstar live for the first time.

Not only is Canzurlo a big fan but she will also perform her own show Bloom Sings The Adele Songbook at Astor Theatre in Mt Lawley on June 3.

“I love the power and dynamics in her voice and I love that she lightens the mood of her shows with the comical banter between songs,” she said.

“We have that in common; I love to make my audience cry, but it is just as important to make them laugh.”

Canzurlo, who released her debut self-titled EP in 2015, said she was not only in love with Adele’s voice but also the beauty of her songs.

“They can be so sad, yet so beautiful in melody,” she said.

“It is important to me to really connect with the songs and the lyrics, to somehow link my own emotions and experiences to the song so that my audience believe me when I sing, rather than try be her.

“I knew there was an authentic connection that I could develop a show from.”

Carzurlo will be accompanied by a 16-piece band featuring the WA String Orchestra and is running an online competition to find her support act.

“They will win a 30-minute paid support slot and one of their original songs scored by a world class composer,” she said.

“They then get to perform that song as a part of their set live with the orchestra.

“This is just our way of giving back to the local industry where it all started for some of us.”

Entries can be uploaded to the Bloom Sings The Adele Songbook Facebook event page at www.facebook.com/events/862612517203810 until February 28, where people can vote for their favourite act until March 31.

The top three videos with the most votes will be judged by a panel of industry professionals and the winner announced via social media on April 8.
