Bowled lamb initiative

WACA and Delaware catering executive chef Andrew Mann, along with kitchen staff, put together the lamb-inspired menu, with guest of honour Sam Kekovich giving it the seal of approval.

The lamb ambassador will make a guest appearance while Western Warriors and Perth Scorchers coach Justin Langer will discuss the past season.

‘Our brigade here at the WACA has created a menu with lamb as its focus,’ Mann said.

‘The main course we will serve on the day is Amelia Park grain-fed lamb crusted with macadamia nuts, sweet potato rosti and a brandy veloute.’

Having worked in the industry for 20 years, Mann said he loved its evolving nature where no two days were the same.

‘You always have to push forward and grow; our industry is an art form,’ he said.

‘We try to use as many local ingredients as possible that are iconic to WA and also sustainable.

‘Almost all items are prepared onsite using premium ingredients and we are under constant review and development.

We have a well balanced and fresh menu using local ingredients cooked to perfection by a brigade passionate about their trade.’

WACA membership general manager Grant White said the event was a great opportunity to highlight the WACA and engage with WACA Members, partners and the community.

‘It’s also a great way to transition from cricket to footy and it will be the first of a series of off-season WACA events,’ he said,

‘It will also be good to hear from two exceptional sports people and mentors in their respective sports and the culinary surprises Delaware have to offer.’
