Busy bakers booming

Belinda CiprianoEastern Reporter

Having only opened their Dalkeith store last month, owner Corentin Laumaille said office workers in West Perth would also enjoy the scent of French croissants wafting down Hay Street after they opened on the strip last week.

Laumaille said western suburbs residents were liking the bakery’s presence on vibrant Waratah Avenue and according to the charming Frenchman, their baguettes were selling better than any other store.

‘So far it’s going really well and we are getting a great response from the customers,’ he said.

‘We were always looking for the perfect opportunity and we looked in Claremont for a long time, but couldn’t find the right spot.

‘And then we found Dalkeith, which is perfect in terms of space, location, and it’s mainly people who know us, know our products and they are already customers of the city stores.’

Laumaille said the Dalkeith store was similar to the other stores and the only difference was there was a kitchen on-site where some hot dishes were being made to suit the new clientele, something they were looking to replicate in West Perth.

‘We will do exactly the same products as in the other stores, but from November our West Perth store will put in place a light lunch menu (bistro style) with plats du jour,’ he said.

‘We are also looking at a new gourmet catering menu starting at the end of the month, for all the office workers in West Perth.’
