The much-loved and respected cook will visit Perth as part of this year’s Good Food & Wine Show and according to the ‘Greedy Italian’ he is looking forward to sharing his love for food from his motherland.
Carluccio is one of six chefs to be part of the show’s Chef’s Table event, where he will tell stories, prepare dishes in a masterclass-style situation and share them with his audience.
‘I will be doing three cooking demonstrations, including recipes from my new pasta book, showing people how to cook the real Italian food,’ he said.
‘Such events are important to spread the message of Italian food which is already worldwide.
‘But people should know what the real Italian food is about and all the different regions ” the regional differences are what Italian food is about.’
Carluccio, who is taking part in the show for the first time, said the event was an important way of spreading the message of good food.
And while he will be cooking dishes from his new cookbook Antonio Carluccio’s Pasta, he said his favourite things to cook were meals of good quality.
‘I like to be able to extract the trueness of the ingredients, not to change them but to keep all the flavours genuine,’ he said,
While in Perth he hopes to catch up with old friend Vince Garreffa of Mondo Butchers, whom he knows will take him out to see all that Perth has to offer.
Other chefs taking part in this year’s Good Food & Wine Show include Miguel Maestre, Alastair McLeod and George Calombaris,
The Good Food & Wine Show at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre runs from July 11 to 13.
