FAST cars, beers and muddy nights create an unlikely romantic comedy in one of this year’s CinefestOZ Festival film prize finalists, Spin Out.

Spin Out actor Eddie Baroo said the film would leave audiences laughing.

Baroo is no stranger to film and TV, having appeared in television series Blue Heelers, Underbelly and Beaconsfield, films such as Ghost Rider with Nicholas Cage, Baz Luhrmann’s Australia and more recently the 2015 feature Son of a Gun alongside Ewan McGregor.

In Spin Out, Baroo plays the eldest brother in a family nobody wants to talk to in a small close-knit country town.

He said the film centred around the town’s annual B&S ball and ute muster, with plenty of drunken shenanigans.

Baroo will walk the red carpet at the CinefestOZ Film Festival opening night next week, along with cast member Lincoln Lewis.

He said he took on the role because he thought it would be a lot of fun.

“I love acting and I couldn’t turn down working with such a great cast and crew,” he said.

It is not the actor’s first trip down the CinefestOZ red carpet after visiting the South West for the film festival in 2014.

He said he was looking forward to returning.

“I fell in love with Cinefest after visiting for the premier of Son of a Gun. I missed out last year, but I think it’s Australia’s best film festival,” he said.

Baroo said he loved the festival also gave people a chance to learn from actors, writers and directors.

“I love that the festival is not just about Australian films, but there are also a range of French films and they do Q&As and meet and greets, and give people a chance to learn about the filming experience,” he said.

“For the average punter on the street it gives them a chance to walk up to people in the films and talk to them and share their experiences.”

The CinefestOZ Film Festival will run from August 24 to 28.
