Here are his top tips for achieving this sought-after look.

Plants

Having the same plants indoors that also feature outside creates a seamless transition between spaces and provides year-round colour and warmth within the home

Floors

Extending your indoor floorboards to the outside using a weather-proof and low-maintenance product means your space will look larger than it is, especially when split with bifold doors that can open up an entire wall. Composite decking also provides leisure without the labour of traditional wood

Decor

Choosing furniture in colours that match your interiors ensures there is no harsh differentiation between the indoor and outdoors. Use a similar tonal colour palette to enhance the connection, such as earthy tones with pops of colour through cushions on your lounge and your outdoor setting. You can find outdoor furniture solutions from Bunnings, Harvey Norman or even Kmart, depending on your budget

Windows

The best way to create space that looks effortless between outside and inside is to make your windows as large as possible. The wider the floor-to-roof windows between the backyard and the kitchen or lounge room, the more it will seem as though there is no closure at all and the space will appear much larger

Doors

Using stacker doors or bifold doors, which come with a frame sunk into the level of the floor, means you don’t have to step over something as you head outside. Opening the doors and letting the summer air breeze through your home is a wonderful start to the weekend, while the entertainment options for this space are endless
