AS soon as spring arrives and the hint of summer calls, I think about how I can freshen my home.

Visit your favourite homewares stores and start planning for new pieces, from plants to cushions, to give your surroundings a simple little pick-me-up.

Shenton Park interior stylist, Andrea Pienaar of SIBA Interiors, says linens and natural textures will continue to shine during Perth’s warmer months.

“A calming neutral palette is always a winner,” she said.

“Add pale blues, beige pinks and natural earth tones which are a really strong trend at the moment.

“Lighter and brighter palettes work better for a summer look and rattan and wicker are also a big trend at the moment and a great way of creating a beach summer feeling to your home.”

Pienaar’s top 5 ideas to inject a fresh spring/summer look to the home

1. Indoor potted plants.

A gorgeous painted pot with a live plant is a great way to bring some life into your home.

2. Update your soft furnishings with luxe linens in soft pastels and spring palettes.

This is an easy way to get a spring or summer vibe: think cushions, linen throw rugs and bed linen.

3. A framed print with a great ocean or beach image can add an instant summer feel to a room.
