FOMO Freo Colour painting Fremantle Oval with fun on November 18

Tanya MacNaughtonEastern Reporter

IT is time to put Fremantle back on the map, and according to local artist David Spencer, FOMO Freo Colour is the perfect event to do just that.

Spencer and fellow Fremantle artist Anya Brock are FOMO Freo ambassadors, celebrating the FOMO redevelopment of the former Myer and Queensgate building and carpark.

FOMO Freo Colour is a family-friendly day at Fremantle Oval, from 10am to 2pm on Sunday, November 18.

The event will feature the biggest ‘paint-in’ of its kind in WA.

Artists of all ages have registered for a place at one of 320 easels on the day to express their creativity on canvas, with the top five paintings selected to feature in the future FOMO project.

“I fit the brief, being a Fremantle fan, and collectively with Anya Brock our artistic visions really suited the aim,” Spencer said.

“I believe in the project and love watching Fremantle rejuvenate and receive the investment it deserves after decades of decline.

“I’m a father of two kids who love painting, so it’s going to be a great day.

“Anya and I will go round everyone’s painting, encouraging them to go bold and judging the works for prizes.”

Registrations are now full for ticketed entry from 10am to noon, with general admission from noon to 2pm subject to paint supplies.

Spencer said he wanted painters to be bold, expressive and feel proud of their artwork.

“Everyone is an artist and having fun is what I enjoy about painting,” he said.

“320 easels on Fremantle Oval is going to be epic; I don’t know how I’ll get round them all.”

FOMO Freo Colour will also have free live entertainment, a kids zone with face painting and games, food trucks and giveaways.
