Fringe World Festival 2018 program released, now choose your own adventure

GET ready to choose your own adventure following the release of Fringe World Festival 2018’s program running from January 26 to February 25.

The third largest Fringe in the world is preparing for another successful month-long juggernaut with more than 750 free entertainment and ticketed shows across almost 130 venues.

And in 2018 more than 47 per cent of events are by WA artists.

Festival director Amber Hasler said Fringe World was unlike anything else on offer in Perth with a big selection of new and exciting treats.

“This is our best program yet and it’s going to put so much joy into the lives of all the people of Perth,” Hasler said.

“From local artists to Australian and international performers, the 2018 program is huge and simply spectacular.

“We invite absolutely everyone in Perth to make the most of the Festival and forget boring, because Fringe is here and it’s time to get excited.”

New to Fringe World will be a hub at the Ice Cream Factory on the corner of Roe and Queen streets in Northbridge that will have The Edith Spiegeltent, comedy venue The Ramp and be the venue for show Club Swizzle by the creators of Fringe favourite La Soiree.

A circus tent at Yagan Square will be home to show Cirque Africa and an expanded program at The Pleasure Garden in Northbridge’s Russell Square will feature offerings including the return of Djuki Mala and Hot Brown Honey produced by Briefs Factory and starring First Nations women .

The Urban Orchard in Fringe Central at Perth Cultural Centre will host wild Dutch mini-festival The Showman’s Fair while The City of Perth Fringe World Buskers Weekender from February 2 to 4 will have a line-up of international street performers and circus acts presenting free entertainment.

There is also the opportunity to visit Fringe hotspots around the metro area from Freo Royale in Fremantle to the Sunset Veranda in Scarborough, from The Pickled Swan in Midland to Leedypalooza in Leederville with others in Rockingham, Rottnest and Geraldton.
